Factors Influencing the Pricing of Laminate Flooring

As living standards continue to rise, laminate flooring has become one of the best-selling wood flooring products in recent years, gaining popularity among an increasing number of consumers. However, there is a significant disparity in the prices of laminate flooring brands on the current market. To better understand this situation, let's explore the factors that contribute to the pricing of laminate flooring.

1. Quality of the Substrate

The quality of the substrate is the core determinant of the laminate flooring's overall quality. Laminate flooring typically employs high-density boards as the substrate, resulting in higher prices. In contrast, those using ordinary particle boards as the substrate tend to have lower prices. This stands as a crucial factor affecting laminate flooring prices, where composite boards with high-quality substrates often cost tens or even hundreds of dollars more than those with standard particle board substrates.

2. Abrasion Resistance Rating

One of the notable characteristics of laminate flooring is its abrasion resistance. According to prevailing national standards, residential-use laminate flooring has abrasion resistance ratings categorized into Grade 1 and Grade 2. The commonly used Grade 1 standard requires an abrasion resistance rating of ≥6000 revolutions, while Grade 2 standards are set at ≥4000 revolutions. The abundance of aluminum oxide in the surface layer determines the abrasion resistance, and thus, laminate flooring with a rating exceeding 6000 revolutions naturally commands a higher price.

3. Brand Reputation

The flooring industry has shifted its focus to brand culture construction, reflecting current market demands. When consumers choose laminate flooring, they prioritize not only quality and price but also brand recognition. Establishing a well-known brand requires considerable effort from flooring enterprises. Brands with higher recognition generally invest more in quality, manufacturing processes, and materials, resulting in higher costs and, consequently, higher prices compared to less recognized brands.

4. After-Sales Service

Many consumers often focus solely on the purchase phase and overlook the importance of after-sales service. Reputable flooring companies provide end-to-end services, including production, sales, and after-sales support. Such comprehensive services relieve consumers of many concerns, and flooring companies recoup the value of their efforts by adjusting laminate flooring prices to cover the costs associated with providing thorough services.
